freshening up!

spring, home decor, diy decorating, color, green, repurposing, upcycling, simple decorating, organizing, office, entry, work spaces, inspiring spaces
as March approaches and spring arrives,
i tend to gravitate toward greens and yellows as accent colors in my neutral home...
what's YOUR favorite color right now?

wait - what??? COLOR? ooooh, scary, right?
you can live with color without committing to long-term change!
add a few simple colorful accessories to your office or entry way
and your neutral rooms will SPRING to life!

in this past post, i shared some of my office organization & decor ideas,
along with photos of my own studio spaces over the years.
i recently came across photos of another office space i had in the past,
that i spruced up with a shot of bright chartreuse green.

this seems like a good time to share those, with a seasonal change on the way.
giving our spaces a face lift as spring approaches is a great idea...

continue reading to see how offices and front entries can quickly look and feel 'spring fresh'!

it doesn't take much time OR money to freshen up a small space...
in just an hour or so, you can give your office or entry hall a crisp new look.

with this kind of 'instant' temporary decorating, it's all about the small details,
and almost everything shown is something i already had on hand
[pulled from storage, the closet, under the bed....]

* the floral tote bag (got it from Country Living magazine) holds supplies for a current project

in an entry, it could hold library books & borrowed items waiting to be returned.
* the lampshade is a wire trash can from Dollar Tree, with a doily over it
[see more of my own lampshade creations here]

warm light in an entryway says 'welcome' in every season.
* the cute green gingham shopping bags on the shelf were fifty cents each at Big Lots,
and hold office supplies (stamps, notes, envelopes, my address book).
by the front door, they could hold mail ready to go in or out.
* the pillows on the twin bed are simply wrapped up in a green vest and sweatshirt

in an entryway, hang up a raincoat and hat in your fave color!
* Big Bear wears a straw chapeau with a scarf from the Dollar Tree -
scarves work great as bows on front door wreaths, too!
* references to spring gardening abound...
from images on my actual 3-D inspiration board
to garden tools and framed quotes, which can also add interest to an entry foyer.

more garden tools become organizers, including my seed packet tin can vase
(could hold seasonal flowers & greens in an entry!)

*  a pretty arrangement on the credenza includes my wire tomato cage dome.

gather interesting & unusual items to display on a table in your foyer

regular gift wrapping paper covers the top of a dresser -
it's not glued on, it just sits on top. easy to change!
this is a fun way to add seasonal pattern & color to an entryway console, too.

(tip: i find really great gift wrap at Tuesday Morning and TJ Maxx!)

i hope these ideas have inspired you to freshen up your own home!
