🎃 I tend to think of October as being 'Pumpkin Season'... maybe because I love pumpkins so much that I have created so many new versions of them! (Honestly, I am just not into scary / spooky Halloween - at ALL.)
I love the colors and elements that nature offers us in this season, and the ability we have to 'feather our nests' and make them cozy and welcoming for the colder months ahead. One of my favorite fall activities is harvesting natural materials and bringing them indoors to grace our homes before their life cycle ends. And I have always championed that we can diy our own autumn decor to make it exactly what we want, in our favorite colors, that expresses our own special style.
I've rounded up some fun pumpkin decor ideas, projects, and tutorials below to inspire you this month... and if you'd like to see ALLLLLLL of my autumn diy projects from the past 14 years, they are here!

I went searching for a fun Halloween themed drink to share, and when I found this one, I smiled... my Mom used to make this exact punch for us on Halloween when we were kids!
Make your own big batch of what I used to call 'Orange Julius Punch' with this recipe from the Seeded at the Table recipe blog. It's non-alcoholic, but you can always spike it with your favorite spirit ! (See what I did there??!😉 )

I photographed this gorgeous picket fence topped with small sugar pumpkins on a tiny island in Puget Sound, Washington over two decades ago. It reminded me of the fence around the gorgeous house in the film 'Practical Magic'. 28 years later, the second film is here and we're all swept up in the magic of October again!
BTS movie trivia:
Practical Magic 1 was filmed in the town of Coupeville, on Whidbey Island in Washington state. I was able to go and see the town during filming, and they had painted every building on Front Street at Penn Cove pure white, to give it a more historic look. It was so charming!
And that gorgeous Owens sisters HOUSE we all love? It wasn't real!
It was a hollow wood and painted canvas facade, built on another island in Puget Sound - and disassembled after filming wrapped. The interiors were all filmed on a soundstage in Hollywood. It seems to have been replicated for filming for Practical Magic 2 in England, though!
Can't forget my FAVORITE pumpkins - at Disneyland, and of course The Great Pumpkin Patch from Charles Schultz:

Wishing you a magical October, friends...
