and since I'm not currently making new things,
I thought I'd share it for your Valentine's Day inspiration!
we've all become familiar with offering a little 'thank you' to the many service people
who deliver food and goods to our homes - especially during a pandemic.
our isolation is made more comfortable by them bringing us what we order online.
last year, I created one with a Valentine theme
from an old wall mailbox, all 'shooszhed' up with hearts
to express my gratitude to our USPS, UPS, FedEx, and Instacart delivery people...

the components used in this project:
﹒a black vintage mailbox meant to hang on a wall
﹒a piece of scrap wood that I previously turned into a 'house' with a wood ruler 'roof'
﹒plain white notecards + envelopes
﹒yellow scrap papers cut into heart shapes

... and I had all of these on hand, so making the project cost nothing!
I hot glued the mailbox to the front of the wood piece,
and opened the flip-top of the mailbox.
then I created some 'faux' mail using plain white notecards + envelopes,
and hand-lettered messages of gratitude for our delivery people on them.
a few 'faux' stamps on them are just quick doodles with a fine felt pen,
colored in with yellow pencil.
yellow scrap paper from previous projects and my recycling bin
was mounted to poster board with a glue stick,
then cut into various sized heart shapes.
the note cards and envelopes were the first things added to the wood backing piece
and tucked into the top of the mailbox - hot glue holds them in place.
then yellow hearts were sprinkled through the arrangement, also glued in place.
(it only takes a tiny drop to secure them)
once completed, I snapped some pix here in my studio,
then sat it on a plant stand beside our front door.
a lower plant stand held a basket filled with baggies of fun-size candy bars,
and another card invited delivery people to 'please take one!'
(only I forgot to take a photo of that!)
it was a fun project, and a nice way to offer thanks to the people who worked so hard
to make our lives easier during a hard time...
a few drivers rang the doorbell just to say 'thank you!', too. they like chocolate!
this idea would also work perfectly with love notes for family members in your home!
