November has just begun - and this is the perfect way to transition into Holiday content!
I just received the new Holiday/Winter issue of Country Sampler's Farmhouse Style Magazine in the mail, and one of my past projects is included!
Back in January of 2023, I shared my yarn-wrapped glass vases here on the blog, as part of a series of winter-y home decor elements created with loopy white yarn.
Last fall, Susan Wagner at Annie's Publishing asked me if they could include my vases in this year's Winter issue... since it's always fun to have my projects available to people who haven't discovered my blog yet, of course I said yes!
If you are visiting homeward found decor for the first time because you saw this project in the magazine, Welcome! And thank you!

My project appears on page 90 as part of the 'Pure Coziness' DIY decor feature in the Holiday/Winter Issue.
Beginning on page 84, the feature shares so many cute and cozy DIY decor projects to inspire you. Each of them is made with fabric, yarn, and my favorite crafting material - SWEATERS! (Just click 'Sweet Sweater Originals' in my tags on the sidebar, and you'll see the 32 different creations I have made using sweaters!)

My easy yarn-wrapped vases can be used as candle holders, OR filled with with holiday ornaments, candy canes, pine cones, greens, flowers... and anything else you might want to use.
Another nice thing about this project is that it can be used in your holiday decor - then easily transition into winter decor!
The 2025 Holiday/Winter issue of Country Sampler Farmhouse Style Magazine is now available on newsstands everywhere!

Before using yarn for this purpose, I've created several versions of sweater - wrapped vases over the years and shared them on my blogs...
This all started WAY back in 2007, when I was inspired by decorator and TV personality Danny Seo, who created sweater-wrapped vases for his 'Simply Green' blog - and I created my own versions to share on my 'Hummadeedledee' blog...

(That was almost 20 years ago.... sheesh, I've been blogging a long time!)
Catch up with Danny Seo and more of his sustainable DIY project ideas on his website, Naturally Danny Seo

In 2013 I shared versions in neutral hues, and in 2021 I made some using white & yellow sweater fabric.
In addition to the loopy yarn-wrapped vases, I created several other related projects in my 2023 Winter series... click the captions below to view the posts & tutorials.

I hope you are inspired to look at yarn in a new way, and will give these ideas a try!
While I have the chance, I want to take this opportunity to say that I am so very grateful for the decades-long professional relationship that Susan Wagner and I have shared, and for her support of my businesses & blogs through the many publications that she has helmed.
She has offered me the opportunity to contribute to them in many ways, from writing feature articles (and even judging a retail holiday display contest!) for Country Sampler's Business Magazine to submitting project photos and tutorials for Farmhouse Style Magazine. I consider myself very blessed to have contributed - Thank you again, Susan!
