TROPI-fall decor in our Shasta trailer!

before i start sharing NEW pumpkin & fall decor ideas,
i wanted to time-travel back to last September and show you
my 'TROPI-fall' pumpkins in a different kind of setting!

though i don't share many photos of our home here on the blog,
all of our rooms and decor have a tropical vibe.
since we are unable to travel to Hawai'i now, we 'live Aloha' here at home.

as summer wanes and autumn approaches, 
i bridge the seasons with pumpkins that i create in beachy, tropical styles...
faux painted bamboo and sand, coconut tiki mugs with stems, and more.

so would it surprise you to learn that i ALSO use tropical decor
in our Shasta camping trailer, Miss Dot?!!!

i 'shop the house' for decor elements that fit the season or theme
of the campout we're going to
(we are members of three different trailer groups),
put them into a storage bin, load it up, and then
have as much fun decorating Miss Dot as i do decorating our home...

every September, one of our trailer groups holds a rally in Newport Beach, California.
the setting on the back bay is peaceful and sunny,
and the rv resort has beautiful tropical elements and plantings everywhere.

last year I decided to forego the surfing theme most people decorate with
and embrace the spirit of a tropical resort
with a palette of various greens, white, and tan - and my 'tropi-fall' pumpkins.

outside the trailer, i used two palm leaf print rugs from our home's patio,
and the tropical print pillows from our backyard swing to add some soft comfort.

i always set up a small green vintage folding table next to the trailer
then decorate it in whatever theme i'm using...

the vintage green cooler usually gets filled up with decor,
but this time it functioned as designed, and held sodas.
the arrangement of pumpkins and faux plants on a bamboo tray is easy to move,
and the 'skirt' on the table is two raffia hula skirts from Dollar Tree!

on the picnic table, another bamboo tray filled with pumpkins and greenery
sits on a vinyl palm leaf print vinyl tablecloth to carry out the theme.
the heavy flannel-backed vinyl holds up well in bright sunlight and hot temps.

inside the trailer, there are just a few small touches:

paper greenery and some tropical wall art decorate the wall above the bed 
(and i just LOVE that they replicated the original Shasta magazine rack in these Reissues!)

on the bed and on the bench at the back of the trailer,
i piled up more tropical print pillows from our living room...

on the countertops, two bamboo trays lean against the wall,
pairing with melamine serving pieces and dishes in tropical prints.
they look good but are also easy to grab and go for snacks and meals!

on top of the refrigerator, i always create a vignette to fit the theme...
instead of placing the pumpkins and bowls ON the bamboo tray,
i leaned it against the wall behind them so it would show up better.
and raffia hula skirts make great bowl-filler!

the minty green bowls and accessories you see here stay in Miss Dot all the time,
as they match her seafoam green color scheme...
but i sure have fun adding to that with different items pulled from our home.
(ps: i'll be sharing another decor setup later this fall!)

i bought this fun mini Hawaiian shirt bottle wrap from an artisan
at a Long Beach tiki bar's marketplace... all it needs is a tiny straw hat!

at every rally, there's an 'open house' tour,
where you can see what everyone does to refurbish and decorate their trailers.
we had so many lovely compliments last year from visitors to Miss Dot
that we will probably go with this theme again this year...
but i'm thinking that since the rally runs into the first weekend of October,
maybe i'll add some of our ORANGE accessories to it as well!!!
