Miss Dot goes to the county fair!

the past four posts have shared some of the decor i created
for a recent 'county fair' themed camping/glamping event.

and though most of the photos i took of trailers DIDN'T turn out :(
i have a few of ours and a few shots from the event
to share as inspiration for you when you host events or go 'glamping'!

continue reading so Miss Dot can show herself (and her COUSINS!) off...

our sweet Miss Dot is adorable. seriously.
we can't take her anywhere without being waved at and given the 'thumbs up' on the road,
having loads of visits from curious campers,
and an equal number of 'is she NEW?' and 'you did a GREAT job restoring her!' comments.

we didn't restore her. she IS new!

she's a ReIssue of the Shasta 1961 Airflyte model,
and 1941 of these trailers were built and released in 2015/16
to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Shasta (which began in 1941).

here's a look at her exterior...

she's 16' long and tows like a dream.
she has a bathroom & shower, a fridge, A/C, heat, a microwave, stovetop,
and a bluetooth stereo system with interior & exterior speakers! LUXE!

one of my favorite decor elements is the inside of the door - 
that i painted dozens of seafoam green dots onto!

oh... her name....
she's not named Polka Dot. she's not named after Little Dot, the cartoon character.
nope. she's actually named Miss Dot after a character in a favorite Aussie tv show!

in Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, lady detective Phryne Fisher
has a companion / personal assistant / live-in employee named Dorothy -
but Phryne calls her Dot, or Miss Dot.
Dot started out shy and quiet and demure, but over time became
sassy, silly, adventurous, fun-loving, and very very brave, like her friend. 

we think our lil' Shasta is very sassy - and we really enjoy her!

i love 'zhoozhing' Miss Dot up each time we go out...

this milk can floral arrangement sat outdoors on the picnic table next to our trailer.
(the tablecloth that looks white isn't - it is very pale yellow gingham, to fit the fair theme)

i always set up this vintage green folding table next to our trailer...

it's a fun place to put more decor to liven things up,
and it also serves as an outdoor beverage station when we want
(that awesome vintage cooler works GREAT!)

and though i normally decorate the area in front of the trailer,
this time i just let the white picket fence sections that hide the tongue be enough.

a peek inside:

these images were taken a while ago, and show the 'basic' decor we use...
Mom sewed the curtains, i sewed the pillows and pennants, and made some art.
we excitedly started picking up a small(ish) vintage or thrifted treasure for her 
EVERY time we went camping.
then we figured out that we don't need that much stuff!!!

that said, at each event, we add in a few decor elements from home
 that will match the event theme...
this time, i added yellow, lemon, and county fair-theme accents,
like lemons in jars and bowls, yellow pillows, hand towels, and a big yellow straw hat.
it's not a LOT, just enough to punch up the look!

the front table drops down to become a full size bed,
so loads of pillows are an easy accent.

i forgot to turn on the interior lights, and the glare from the windows blew out the shots.
i'll try again next time.

Miss Dot has some Shasta cousins in our group, too:

in total, there are four seafoam green 16' Shasta ReIssues in the Divas - all there this time!
there is also a 19' butternut yellow Shasta ReIssue in the group.
one green and the yellow were right next to us,
and we had quite a few non-Diva campers asking questions about them.

btw, the county fair theme was chosen because this beautiful campground
is located near the Pomona Fairground Complex, where the LA County Fair is held.

the owner is one of the original five Divas, and calls herself 'Mother Pucker' LOL
her trailer gets the MOST attention at events - obviously!

this group is honestly the BEST group of women i have ever known...

there are over 800 in the 'club', living all across the US, 

and this event in So Cal hosted *100* of them!!! 

we do, indeed, know how to have fun... and how to decorate a trailer!

(although it's not just a camping group - we do a LOT of other things)
