you can't give a guest room a new look without foofing up the guest bath, too...
i completed that task using things i had on hand in a new way, and it didn't cost a cent!
one of the projects i completed for this quick makeover
was a variation of something i've done before with a certain piece of junk.
the other was painting some fun and funky faux cacti - using a pretty unusual material.

to coordinate with the new decor scheme in the bedroom,
i chose some elements from that decor to repeat in simple accessories for the guest bath:
rusty metal, succulents/cacti, and a similar color scheme.
one of the 'projects' was just toooooo easy:
remember these painted ping pong paddle cacti from a post last fall?
(they have pumpkins painted on the back!)
well, i lost them. yes, seriously... i can't find them anywhere.
i was going to use them in this guest bath, but noooooooooo.
with those MIA, i had to get creative and come up with some other painted cacti accents.
i looked around the house for something in the right shape, and then this happened:
yes, they are indeed spoons!
the back sides of two wooden spoons from the Dollar Tree
and one PLASTIC spoon (just because i had to try it!)
were painted with washes of several shades of green paint, then added dot and X details.

(have i said 'i love paint!' enough lately?!!!)

they strike just the right funky note!
my 'quarantine decor' method has been 'shopping the house' -
that approach often turns up goodies saved from gift baskets and hotel rooms...
gathering them together by color and placing them on a simple plate (sitting on a box)
elevates them to 'five star resort' status.
shopping my own storage areas here at home has helped me make over TWO rooms!
don't miss the complete 'use what you have' no-cost transformation in a past post!
i feel like decorating is never about money. it's always about creativity.
i hope these ideas inspire you to use your imagination,
look at what you have and find a new way to use it,
and make your home your haven!
