boho lace pumpkins

i am always trying to find new ways to create pumpkin decor to enjoy in the fall...
i'm game to try anything to see if it will work.
i recently came across some photos of this past project, never shared here on the blog,
and thought i had better do that before the window of opportunity for fall decor closes!

these are a fun way to create pumpkins with a bohemian style vibe,
perfect in combination with the neutral hues, macrame' accents, and wood textures
in the 'of the moment' boho modern fall decorating.

i made these exactly the same way i make my Sweet Sweater Pumpkins,

using some scraps of lace curtain panels and tablecloths.

the only difference is that when you use lace instead of a sweater, you can see through it...

so i had to use something to hide the white polyfill inside the pumpkins.

i ended up using some brown kraft paper gift 'shred', placing it around the white polyfill

before continuing on to form the pumpkin top & stem.

it worked better than i had planned - the dark brown made the details of the lace really stand out!

it's all no-sew and really simple. (link to that tutorial is below in this post)

this photo doesn't give you an idea of the size... these were HUGE!
take a peek at where they ended up to get a better sense of scale:

after finishing them, they perfectly accessorized this display

that i styled in the back of a rusty old truck - at the entrance to a vintage show.

more lace, torn into strips, was used to create a fun 'umbrella' to top it all off,

and a few extra lace curtain panels drape over the antique chair's arm.

if boho isn't your thing, the lace also looks perfect in vintage-style decor...
and i'd bet if you made these using BLACK lace, they'd be perfectly spooky!
