one thing always leads to another 'round here....
after i turned some old green sweet sweater succulents
into green sweet sweater pumpkins (see my last post)
i had some different sweater succulents left over.
i've not only turned them into something different,
but have come up with yet another sweater creation"
Sweet Sweater Apples!
Sweet Sweater Apples!
continue reading for details and a quick tutorial...

the succulents were made from sweater arms and pool noodles,
and looked like this:

i disassembled them, then used the sweater parts again
in a different way to create some apples...
TUTORIAL
materials:
sweater sleeves, cut to @ 10" lengths . polyfill stuffing . rubber bands
method:
left: fill each sweater arm section with polyfill stuffing.
center left: close each end of the 'tube' with a small rubber band (wrap tightly).
center right: you now have a closed tube.
right: fold the tube in half until the ends come together,
then wrap them with a large rubber band to hold the ends together.
left: use one hand to open up the space between the sides of the tube
center left: then twist and tuck the rubber-banded ends through the hole -
you'll want to push the ends away from the hole,
then tuck them up into the hole from beneath.
center right: you've hidden the ends and created a depression in the middle...
right: ...which is where you'll insert a 'stem'. just like on an apple!
i used two swirly plastic curtain rod finials,
and just tucked them down into the sweater fabric:
i used two other brown objects that i had on hand
for the other two stems -
a large spool of brown thread, and a champagne cork painted brown.
using the same color for all of the stems
makes them look intentional and more like a 'set'.
there's one caveat to this style of sweater creation:
the backs aren't perfect - they sit lower than the fronts.
so i recommend displaying them in a way
that hides the backs - surrounded by leaves or vines, perhaps,
or piled into an old wood fruit crate like mine are.
i think they are apples. my Mom says they look like pumpkins.
...whether you call them pumpkins or apples,
i hope you enjoy making them and adding them to your autumn decor!

My goodnesssss.... your crispy green sweater apples are adorable, but the curtain rod finials make the most perfect apple stems in the land! SO creative!
