HOLIDAY: Mid-Mod Nativity

Because the 'Reason for the Season' is important to me, I've created and shared a lot of nativity scenes over the years...

From repainting ceramic figurines to look like terra cotta and placing ornaments on top of bud vases to turning wood scraps into figures for a 'NativiTIKI', I've put my creative brain to work every holiday season to match my themes. (I have linked my favorites at the end of this post)

This year my nativity is simple and modern in style, which fits the Mid Mod Holiday theme perfectly...

Because it is now less than a week before Christmas, I didn't prepare a tutorial for this project... you likely have NO time at all to create something this close to the big day! I'm just sharing what I made. 

Displaying the scene crafted from white poster board and green vinyl placemats on a white pierced ceramic pedestal brings together all of the elements I've been including in my Mid Mod Holiday theme projects this year...

I love how the lights illuminate the interior of the pierced ceramic pedestal base,
as well as adding sparkle to the scene above. Lights are important in winter - counteracting shorter days and longer nights, giving us a bit of warmth and cheer as we await the arrival of springtime.
