September weather in So Cal is still hot (we call it 'Locals Summer') and the skies are mostly bright blue... yet the light begins to change, the inland nights cool just a bit, and the leaves began to dry out. Sadly, they don't change color. But fall is in the air, and it signals a coming change.
A new side of nature unfurls all around me outdoors, and inspires me to bring a touch of the beauty inside to enjoy as decor. Hues of green, brown, tan, and shimmering gold capture the ephemeral light of early fall and set the stage for all that is on its way as the harvest approaches...

Maybe it's because my daughter Bethany's wedding was outdoors at a winery on a gorgeous fall afternoon, and the classical music she chose inspired me as I decorated the winery and crafted her florals that day. I still have that cd, and am listening to it as I draft this post.... such beautiful memories.

Our triple-digit summer heat has eased just enough for me to enjoy my morning coffee out on our back patio... while it isn't cool enough for hot coffee yet, I'm enjoying my cold brew iced coffee with Italian sweet cream and caramel syrup. I'm not a fan of whipped cream on my iced coffee, but I do like a small sprinkle of pink Himalayan salt as a contrast to the sweetness.
(And if I want to really splurge, I add half a shot of salted caramel vodka, too!)
