diy headboard to a-door...

in my book, making do with what you already have simplifies life,
and certainly beats buying more stuff...

when we moved into the new house, i had two choices:
or come up with something new.
i chose 'something new' - but of course i didn't go out and BUY a headboard!

keep reading to see what i did....

are you getting the picture yet?

that big ol' headboard is one of the simplest projects that i've done here in the new house.
i took something from one room, and put it in another - using it in a different way.

yep. it's closet doors! i took them off of the closet in my office, and put them in the bedroom.
it was as simple as removing the roller hardware from the top of the doors,
then leaning them up against the wall behind the bedframe.
the round 'handles' are placed in the center, and pillows hide them.

(if i were really ambitious, i could add a custom-made cornice to sit on top,
made with ceiling cove moulding, to make it look more finished.
i may do that someday, but i like the simplicity of this look.)

the result is the addition of some fresh style without spending a cent.
in my office, the closet is filled with shelves for art & design supplies,
much easier to access without doors on.

now that's a solution to a-DOOR. wink.
