while employing this mandatory time at home to accomplish some long-overdue tasks,
i've unearthed some goodies that i completely forgot that i still had!
(tell me i'm not alone. please. i can not be the only decor/craft-supply hoarder out here!)
.
seven ceramic eggs that i bought at a thrift shop years ago turned up in a box,
and as soon as i saw them, i decided to give them a makeover with paint -
and pictured them just as you see them in the image above.
because it's all about making do with what we have at home right now, yes? yes!
continue reading to see the before & after!
i know you're thinking it, so i'll just admit it...
yes, these WERE inspired by my current obsession with the look of paint chips!
the eggs i had on hand were heavy ceramic ones in neutral tones that i've had for a few years.
after a quick brush-on of white 'eggshell' finish paint (um... duh?! LOL) they were ready for color.
i used regular craft paints and small brushes to paint the ombre 'paint chip effect
and also did some in a green gingham pattern to coordinate with the fabric i've used this season.
tip:
i painted the bottom halves first, and sat them upside down in an egg carton to dry.
then i painted the top halves, and sat them upright to dry.
i did not seal them with clear spray, but you could. i don't mind the flat finish.
this method would also work with plastic eggs, wood eggs, paper mache' eggs -
yes, even REAL hardboiled eggs!
once done, i snapped these photos, and then tucked them into a few places in our spring decor...
.
a few of them nestled right into the spring centerpiece on our coffee table
and i used three eggs, because odd numbers are more pleasing to the eye. (didja' know that?!)
i left the mossy rocks that were there, and also added a few clear glass egg ornaments.
three sit on my spring 'faux grass' accents inside a pedestal bowl in the dining room,
and one crowns one of my handmade nests on our vintage kitchen scale.
and even though i am continuing to decorate for the seasons (because... art therapy),
i know that everything is quite different this year for everyone...
i know that everything is quite different this year for everyone...
no big Easter sunrise church services, family gatherings, or get-togethers with friends.
no spring break trips or community egg hunts or festivals.
i hope that you will find ways to celebrate Easter at home this year
in ways that bring joy and meaning to you and yours.
be safe. be wise. be well, my friends. ❤️😷
