another of my diy home decor projects is included in
the Fall 2024 Issue of Country Sampler Farmhouse Style Magazine...
the pegrack / coatrack that we made
using a vintage porch post, cut in half lengthwise before we bought it,
is part of the 'Architectural Adaptations' feature in this issue,
with a special mention of the unique hooks on ours.

you'll find this project on page 94 of the issue:
the project on the left of page 94 isn't shown here -
but it is very similar and uses an architectural remnant
hung vertically, with hooks added... which was our original plan for ours!
then i discovered that it fit the main entry wall perfectly
and hung it horizontally instead...
which meant i could add a lot more hooks,
and hang a lot more interesting items for display!
the close up photo shows the detail i love most:
a hook created by using a ceramic hot wire fence insulator!
available at farm & feed stores, i've found them in two sizes
and used the larger one - because a vintage clothes hanger hook fits through the hole!

i came up with this hook idea back in 2011 for our farmhouse in Washington,
and used it on an exterior pegrack on the gardenhouse makeover in 2012:

this feature in our entry hall has been changed with every season...
here's how i styled it for the summer season:
here's how i styled it for the summer season:
a collection of vintage canvas and burlap bags, satchels, and totes
form a neutral base that i added more bags in green tones to -
including a vintage beaded purse from Hawai'i!
a few paper tropical leaves and a wind chime made from seashells
add summer vibes that fit our tropical style perfectly.

i painted 'Aloha' on fabric for the sign, which is an old cabinet door.
you can see some of the other hooks i used, as well.
since this pegrack functions much as an art installation,
i change it up with every season... here are a few past versions:
