going green (in every way) with my fall decor

fall is coming....

yes, that sounds ominous to me! maybe to you, too.
as hot as it has been in So Cal this summer,
i'm enjoying long days of being off the grid.
i'm not remotely ready for it to end.

but that encroaching seasonal change is motivating me!
so i've been giving some thought to this year's autumn theme
for my projects and content,
and i've come up with a plan that i can live with...

green everything. 
yes, green in COLOR (because Deb is in her 'green era' right now)
but also, green in purpose: reduce, reuse, recycle, repurpose.

while i always love using what i already have on hand
or find inexpensively at thrift stores to create new seasonal home decor,
this year i really don't want to add any more 'stuff'.
(friends, i do not need more pumpkins!!!!)

as i continue the arduous process of cleaning & purging our garage,
going through bins and boxes and bags of stuff that hasn't seen the light of day in YEARS,
i am purposing to take a hard look at my existing fall decor and re-invent it.

with my favorite tools - paint, hot glue, sweaters, fabric, and paper -
along with elements of nature pulled from my yard,
i'm going to re-do a lot of the pumpkins that i already have and give them a fresh look.

i am excited by the idea of this creative exercise,
and hope it will encourage you to look at your own fall decor...
if it's been stored away unused for awhile because it doesn't 'fit' your home anymore,
maybe you'll see an idea here that inspires you to change things up
without spending a lot OR taking up more storage space.

going sustainably green + budget-friendly is one way
to create a home you love to live in.

i can't wait to get started... but my laptop has DIED!
i've ordered a new one that will arrive next week,
and have an appointment to get photos + data transferred at Best Buy
so i can get back to photo editing and post drafting. 
(i'm typing this on my Mom's laptop)
keep your fingers crossed for me, won't you??!!

*UPDATE: my new laptop arrived,
the Best Buy Geek Squad was able to transfer ALL of my data
(including ten thousand photos!) AND 
i was able to re-load my fave photo editing program - and it WORKS!
Deb is a happy, happy girl!*
