and if there's ever a day that a girl deserves to wear a crown,
it's on her birthday / week / month. no matter her age!
a tiny wire crown (that i made over a decade ago)
has been embellished with tiny faux daffodils... my favorite flower...
and though i am not nor have ever been a bona fide 'daffodil queen',
i think maybe for today, i shall proclaim myself one!
when i found her in a box, she still had the original brown seam binding,
twisted around and through the wire crown.
(and of course i got excited and forgot to take a 'before' shot....)

i simply removed that, and replaced it with some of the yellow vintage velvet ribbon
that i discovered a few months ago in a thrift shop.
she looked much perkier! but... still... she needed MORE.

i grabbed some tiny yellow silk daffodil flowers,
and tucked them into the wire loops of the crown.
they aren't permanently attached, because you know i like to change things a lot!
i display the crown sitting on a vintage glass lamp globe,
which sits in a vintage milk glass urn vase, on a vintage glass cake pedestal.
it's a rather regal version of a 'wig head' if i do say so myself!

she adds a grace note to my studio every day,
and i think she'll hang around for the rest of the year!
i used to make a LOT of my original 'Junk Queen Crowns',
which are simply a circle of wire with additional loops twisted onto it.
from tiny tiaras for little girls to large crowns for women, i sold a lot of them!
over the years, different versions were embellished with many different kinds of elements -
vintage crystals, ribbon, and natural elements like seashells and leaves...
so, my friend, what are you celebrating this week, month, or year?
don't you think you deserve a crown, too?! i think you do!
you can embellish ANY crown or tiara, you know...
and even if you only wear it in a bubble bath or around the kitchen,
(or, like a friend of mine, wear a plastic tiara while cleaning the toilets!!!)
it will certainly remind you that you are a Queen!
