we incorporated the color RED (for the first time) into our home decor this winter,
and it has truly warmed up the visual look of our rooms.

the bonus is that this color made the transition to February SO easy:
all i did was add in a few red hearts... BOOM! done!
one of the ways i did that was by using a completely unconventional method
that i just had to share!

in this previous post, i shared the scrap wood 'house' artwork that i created for our gallery wall:
well, i wanted to add a heart to it for February.
but i didn't want it to be permanent, as i plan to enjoy this artwork all year long.
so i had to come up with a solution that would give me the result i wanted. and i did:
that heart? it's not paint... it's paper.
specifically: a paper NAPKIN. yeah!
i took a red cocktail napkin, folded it, cut out a heart shape, and ended up with four hearts.
then i pulled the double layers of paper apart, and had eight very thin tissue-y paper hearts.
which i proceeded to apply to that artwork using
HAIRSPRAY.
why? because i don't want them on there permanently. this is 'temporary decorating'.
a quick squirt of hairspray on the paper heart and on the scrap wood
then a GENTLE smoothing of the paper
is a simple solution that will allow me to remove the hearts at the end of February -
with no damage.

hey, friends, there's always a way to get the decor you want!
y'all KNOW that i use things in ways they weren't meant to be used - and that includes hairspray!
(this is actually a method i used for years in retail visual displays, where everything is temporary.
hairspray is a great temporary adhesive and safe on MOST surfaces. who knew? deb knew!)
wanna' see a few more?
a small wood square with a painted house sits by the chalkboard in our entry foyer,
and a funky 'house' (that used to be a Santa tiki!) from our front hallway nook
both got the heart & hairspray treatment.
obviously this isn't rocket science - just 'fast, cheap and easy'TM heart-felt decor!
