fall paper leaf arrangement

i've had to get creative to bring a fall feel into my home
(there's not a fall leaf in sight outside and it's still in the 90's... sigh)
but i've managed to find a way! it's PAPER!

some of the leaves from the wreath in my last post joined with new ones
along with faux florals + leaves and a branch from my backyard tree
to create this lovely fall arrangement.
it's easy-peasy AND it won't fall apart! (hah. pun not intended)

the yellow + brown leaves you see here and in the arrangement are made from paper.
i scavenged my own recycling bin and pulled out everything in yellow tones,
then cut leaf shapes out of it all.

using those leaves in several different projects has been a fun creative exercise -
and it's free! free crafting supplies is always a good thing.

this arrangement began with a white ceramic urn...
i added a bare branch from my backyard Brazilian mesquite tree
and a branch with five faux 'birch bark' leaves - that i've had for many years.
they gave me some structure to build the leafy arrangement on.

i added the paper leaves from largest to smallest,
and worked to place light next to dark tones for contrast + interest.
the leaves at the bottom of the arrangement are just tucked in,
while the smaller leaves on the branches were secured with a drop of glue.

i folded and bent some of the leaves, so that they would look a bit more realistic.
the stems of faux yellow craspedia flowers were added as a final touch.

a few yellow pumpkins (of course!) and additional leaves finish off the composition.
there's literally nothing 'natural' in this arrangement except one bare branch
(that is now covered in paper leaves)
but it sure LOOKS like i foraged it all!

a simple arrangement like this works well in an entry hall, on a buffet, or on a credenza
as a warm welcoming touch for your Thanksgiving celebrations.
a lower container and grouping would work perfectly as a table centerpiece.

(and when it's time to start decorating for the Holidays,
these can go right back into the recycling bin!)
