easy summer decor: all bottled up!

Memorial Day Weekend is here (in the States, anyway)
and that means it's time for the big 'summer kickoff'...

the project i'm sharing today is a re-do and throw-back
to some of my patriotic red, white and blue summer decor from the past
(i've linked that below this post)
but the new version fits my current 'green era' obsession.
it's another 'throw it together in a minute' decor trick
that can be replicated in SO many ways on a table, mantel, bookshelf, and more.

'summerizing' your living spaces is an easy way to embrace the season...
quick additions of simple elements will change the feel of your home!

continue reading to see a few of the ways i've used glass bottles...

six reproduction vintage bottles in a pale seafoam green tone are perfect for white flowers.
gathered on a child's chair in the garden house of a former residence,
these bottles inspired my newest version - i do still have just of these.

back in 2013, i found an entire wooden crate of unmarked vintage Coca Cola bottles
in the prettiest seafoam green hue. i was smitten!
i paid $25 for the whole shebang and whistled my way out to the car as i went!

displayed all together in the crate, they are impressive...
and only a few bottles need to hold flowers to elevate the look.

my research has shown that they were manufactured circa 1919 - 1957,
according to Coca Cola bottle shape history.
no idea why they were never painted with the logo (this was before the raised logo version).
now they'd sell for anywhere between $200 and $400 dollars, according to etsy!
nope, not selling them!

back in 2017 on a trip to Kauai, Hawaii, i found another crate filled with vintage soda bottles
but since bringing an entire crate back on the plane with me was a bad idea,
i just bought one bottle!

i love the white graphic label!

it's pretty hard to find out anything about the GEO's Beverage Company,
but I know it was in Kapa'a, Kauai, Hawaii.
i had a photo of the crates full of bottles in the antique shop in Kapa'a,
taken during my first visit there in 2016 -
but now i can't find that photo in my files. :(

one vintage bottle works really well to hold one spectacular bloom,
a long stem of herbs, or for propagating a plant cutting.

here are a few other ways that i've used this idea in the past:

vintage brown medicine bottles with original label remnants
gather on a silver tray for a lovely neutral display of daisies.

i found these in a torn, dirty box under a table
in a dirty barn in Washington state... for a dollar each.
i washed them and set them up like this,
and sold them for $30 for the whole collection!

a group of dirty clear glass vintage bottles was cleaned, sprayed with gloss white paint,
then gathered on a silver tray, holding happy daisies from a nearby field.

i found these in various places for between 50 cents and one dollar.
and i sold the whole lot for $20!

vintage bottle labels fit the patriotic palette,
especially holding flowers that look like fireworks!

two full cardboard containers of Pepsi and Coke bottles
were found beneath my Dad's garage workbench as i was rummaging around -
just in time for Memorial Day weekend!

all of these ideas can be pulled together in mere minutes
for displays on tables, shelves, mantels, deck railings, and more...
summer decor should be easy-breezy!
