May arrives like a favorite guest, bringing gifts of sunshine, warmth, and blooming flowers... evidence of Mother Nature rising from her winter slumber, rested and refreshed, and ready for a garden party. 

Flowers seem to me to be the leitmotif of this month, so today I'm sharing inspired ideas using blooms in your tablescapes, home decor, Mothers' Day gifts, and even in your beverages!

Here's an easy way to provide pretty sips for a party...

Add flower petals and fruit slices to a clear dispenser of water for a lightly flavored drink that looks gorgeous - just make sure the flower petals you use are food safe! You can also add in some flavored sparkling water for additional 'zip'. Learn more here

We each know what we want and need to feel whole and happy, so why not get/make/do those things for ourselves? They needn't be expensive: Pick up a pretty bouquet at the farmers' market. Put on your favorite music and dance while you tidy the house. Start your weekend day with a cuppa' in your garden, as birds greet the morning.

These paper umbrellas painted like flowers at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas certainly made me smile when I saw them years ago!
