Take the Party With You Tonight!

it's New Years' Eve!
time to pop the corks, pour the bubbly, and start celebrating!

i've just got to share this nifty way to transport sparkling wine and glasses to an event -
whether you are heading to the roof to watch fireworks or the ball drop at midnight,
or to the neighbor's place for some revelry,
it's a perfect way to take the party with you!

'Bubbly in a Bucket'
* take a regular galvanized bucket
[though i generally like rusty stuff, for this purpose
it's best to use a nice clean shiny one!]

my bucket had an industrial label on it,
held in place with industrial-strength glue.
it wasn't budging.

so, i took a piece of vintage sheet music,
wrote 'bubbly' on it in a fun font, using a black sharpie marker
[you could print it out, also]
and glued the paper over the existing label using a glue stick.
i like easy solutions!

* line your bucket with a small square cotton or linen tablecloth.
* place a blue ice pack in the bottom, then cover that with a few inches of crushed ice.
* sit your bottle (s) of bubbly (champagne, sparkling wine, or sparkling cider) into the bucket.
* add another few inches of crushed ice.

 * grab a package of clear gift bags
[dollar store, party supply store]
some sheer ribbon
and some champagne glasses

* slip one glass into a clear bag - put the open end of the glass in FIRST.
* gather up the bag's open end around the stem of the glass.
* tie with a bit of the sheer ribbon to hold in place.

* repeat with all of your glasses.

* then carefully sit the glasses UPSIDE DOWN
[with the ribbon UP]
on top of the crushed ice in the bucket.
* fill in between the glasses with more ice.

this will not only protect your glasses as you transport them to the party,
but will chill them without the glasses being all wet!

and it's a pretty swanky presentation, too

call a cab, call a friend, call your MOM...
just don't get behind the wheel if you are buzzed.

wishing you all a very Happy New Year's Eve
and a year filled with joy, love, laughter,
and FABULOUS seasonal decor!
