wondering how to decorate for the change from winter into spring?
try combining the hues and textures of winter with a touch of spring flowers,
like the clear & white glass, burlap, and cherry blossom combination above.
this is a really simple way to take an everyday item and make it work as decor...

yes, those round things in the photo up above ARE what you think they are:
glass light globes
from old porch lights and overhead hall lights!

these are available at vintage lighting stores, building salvage stores,
and sometimes thrift shops for just a few dollars each.
you can find new ones at hardware stores, but they usually aren't as interesting as old ones.
for the winter-to-spring season, they are serving as flower vases and vase fillers
* a tall glass cylinder vase holds assorted round glass globes
the burlap tie hides the stems of faux white cherry blossoms
* single glass globes with flat bottoms serve as flower vases
simply tuck a few faux stems into the openings,
OR place a small jar filled with water inside the globe to hold real blooms.
they also work when used as 'filler' in a wire basket or urn.

i pulled the tulips out of the wreath forms, and i've been using the flowers ever since.
they look so real that no one has a clue they're fake!
