hello, sunshine!

summertime is here!

now that it's time to focus on sun, sand, and shenanigans,

let's bring some sunny summer vibes to your home decor!

i came up with a way to decorate a front door (or back door, or interior door!)

in just minutes with this 'fast, cheap, and easy' paint project...

continue reading to see several ways to have fun in the sun with this one!

i picked up a straw sun hat for four bucks when i was out thrifting...

and decided it was nicer than the large sun hat i'd been wearing,

so i switched 'em!

(pssst... thrift stores and discount/dollar stores are great places to find hats for crafts!)

with a flick of a paintbrush, i painted the crown of the hat sunny yellow

and added some 'sun rays' along the wide brim. EASY.

top tip: add a little water to your paint to help it go on easier

a Sharpie marker made this next part easy-peasy:

on a piece of paper, i wrote the words 'hello, sunshine...' in the size i preferred.

then i sat the hat just above that paper

and used it as a guide for adding the lettering on the hat.

i wrote the words lightly first, then went back in and added thicker lines.

i'm not sure if you could use stickers or vinyl decals on a hat to add words,
or if stencils would work given the rough texture... but you could try!

hung on a wreath hanger that's been painted the same color as the door,

all you see is sunshine!

but that's not all you can do with a fun sun hat!

 use it in your garden - on a scarecrow...

maybe you wanna' display it!
this is my favorite display stylist 'hat trick':

grab one of those basic large glass flower vases that every thrift store has,

or that you had flowers delivered in and then stashed in a cabinet.

FLIP. IT. OVER.

pop hat on top.

it works just like a fancy wig/hat head - with imagination, you can even 'see' the head shape!

there's still one more option:

you can WEAR this sunny hat, too!
