i was able to change the look of the stocking so it fit my decor theme this year.
so if you see something out there that just isn't quite what you need,
get it anyway - and then MAKE it what you need!
just look at this glorious stocking...
a thick cable knit cuff in a happy color,
a jaunty pom pom on the edge, 'hung on the mantel with care'.
it didn't start out like this, though- i did a quick makeover on it.
and you'll never guess what i used!

on the left, you can see the red/gray pattern that is on the stockings from Target.
i covered that part up with... a knit headband!
it slid ever so easily over the top, yet it was just a touch larger than the stocking.
i used a few safety pins tighten it up so it would stay in place -

after it was in place, i pinned a fluffy yarn pom pom to the back of the stocking
and glued a loop of yarn to hang it from.
(the original hanging loop was red - i cut that off.)
it's a fun, bright, happy addition to my decor and is fully functional.
with very little effort, i made a store-bought item fit MY theme,
instead of being limited by what retailers are offering.
remember - you can do this, too!
