Merry Christmas Eve!
today i'm sharing a craft project that came to mind LAST year -
i just didn't make them until this year!

this decor element is a fun way to use scraps of sweaters - and even some TRASH! -
but is also meaningful to me.
but is also meaningful to me.
for me, Christmas is about Jesus' birth,
and celebrating the light that He brought into a world mired in darkness.
i love adding extra twinkle lights to my home in the dark days of winter,
lighting candles, and having a fire in the fireplace (it's faux, but that's ok!).
adding extra warm light sources feels cozy, and also enhances my mood.

i'm guessing you can already see that there are battery-operated candles used here.
I grabbed a few packages of them at Dollar Tree (not a paid ad)
and found that they fit PERFECTLY into the sweater-wrapped cardboard tubes.
*DO NOT USE REAL CANDLES!*
my tubes are from toilet paper and paper towel rolls, but gift wrap tubes would work as well!
i simply measured, cut, and glued sweater fabric onto each roll
[positioning the fabric differently on each tube, for more variety]
and then tucked in the ends. i didn't even use glue on the ends
because inserting the candles holds the sweater fabric in place!
yes, there are battery-op candles on each end of the tubes...
i used some INSIDE the tubes, as well - you can't see them,
but they add structure and weight to the bottoms of the tubes so that they won't fall over.
they are easily removed for other uses, too.
confession: when i turned on the candles, the flames were orange.
i used the magic of photo editing to add a yellow flame
so that my images here look like i want them to!

whether displayed simply on a plate, as shown previously, or on a mantel,
they add a whimsical touch and a lot of sparkling light.
i added some yellow crepe paper rolls as the 'base' of the candles,
loving how it brings more color into my scene!
(this is why deb never throws things away ;) )

may the meaning of Christmas settle in your hearts,
may the joy of family and friends surround you,
may memories of Christmases past give you peace,
and may the Lord bless you during this season of celebration.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good night...
