this month i have shared a bunch of ideas for creating and decorating with mushrooms.
this last one is kinda' sneaked into the blog lineup...
perfect for your yard OR indoors, these mushrooms lamps
are whimsical ways to repurpose household items
while you light up your summer evenings.

i wanted to create my own version using glass lamp globes.
the ones i had didn't work as planned,
so i changed the plan and used vintage glass bowls instead!

i combined white vintage glass bowls and ceramic vases
then lit them using mini lights tucked inside some glass vessels:

top left: the largest vase was topped with a drink glass.
top center: the medium vase was topped with one of my vintage glass light globes.
(i really thought that one would work as a 'shroom top - nope.)

bottom left: the smallest vase - actually the bottom of a 'butter bell' -
has a plastic stemmed wine glass sitting inside of it.
these vessels hold the light up higher than the vases, so the tops glow.
the center right photo shows how i tucked the string of lights into all of the vessels
before putting the bowl 'tops' on.
my original plan was to use battery-op candles - they were too dim to photograph.
so i changed the plan again and used the mini lights.
once the white glass bowls were placed on top,
the effect was exactly what i had hoped for!

you could also use some small solar lights -
the kind with a solar panel that is separate from the lights.
in the garden or inside the house, they bring the magic!
