my friends, i'm absolutely THRILLED to finally be able to share this news
that i've been keeping a secret for several months now...
my original design of a salvaged galvanized bucket fountain
has been published!
available on news stands now!
if you're visiting my blog via the magazine, welcome!
for those of you who have been reading homeward found for awhile,
you'll remember seeing this project in one of my all-time top posts.
my homeward found decor projects are all about using what i have on hand,
and coming up with new ways to use everyday items
as i create 'home decor that's not from a store'.

.
using a few buckets & a watering can that i already had on hand.
the wood fence section shown behind it was installed specifically for this fountain -
and my contractor thought i was unhinged!
(i always say 'i see things differently' -
it definitely wasn't the way HE saw a fence section being used!)

here's how the fountain looked when first assembled in 2016:
i've 'tweaked' it a bit since this sparse first version,
adding more buckets and staining the wood fence section.
once i changed the buckets, i installed a larger hose that moves much more water
and creates a louder bubbling sound as the water spills from one bucket to the next.
as noted in the magazine, the buckets hang individually on the fence slats -
making it easy to disassemble the fountain for cleaning.
last, i covered the pea gravel with artificial turf to match our adjacent backyard lawn
(because the tiny leaves falling off of the mesquite tree were impossible to clean out of the gravel).

i hope that my project inspires you to look around at what you already have
and then try something new in your own home or yard!
