continuing with my floral theme for this month,
i whipped up these fanciful floral 'faux food' cupcakes...
which i did not make with butter, eggs, sugar, and flour.
my friend Sasha ('Saucy') decorates very real cakes and cupcakes
with the most fantastical elements - like frosting flowers.
her delightful creations inspired these flower-decorated cupcakes,
and also inspired my faux gingerbread cake last December.
.
blowsy silk blooms pulled from their stems look like real frosting versions
without all of the work ;)
without all of the work ;)
and when i say 'no work', i mean it....
that's a large daffodil bloom
sitting on top of a few paper cupcake liners.
that's it. that's the 'tutorial'.
sit paper cupcake liners on a plate, platter, cake stand, tiered tray, et al
and then perch some large flowers on top of them. admire. tah dah!

i mean... seriously, decorating doesn't have to be hard. or pricy.
every project doesn't have to be time-consuming.
use some cheap materials and put them together fast & easy. done.
okay, if you want to do something a little more involved, try this:

okay, if you want to do something a little more involved, try this:
take a cute tea cup, or punch bowl cup like mine,
fill it with polyfil stuffing, tuck in a circle of sweater fabric to look like 'frosting',
poke a little hole in the center, and insert a miniature flower bloom in the hole.
boom. "frosted cupcake with flower detail".

of course mine are yellow - but in whatever color you choose to make them,
they are perfect elements for your decor this spring!
having a party?
create a 'dessert' look with all flowered cupcakes to match your party decor.
for an everyday 'spring' display:
mix with small signs, figurines, and other elements on a tiered tray.
btw, that's not a tiered tray in my photos.
it's a ceramic platter stacked on a white flower vase,
with a plastic plate stacked on the insert from a butter bell as the top 'tier'.
no glue, just stacked. comes apart in seconds.
nothing lasts very long around here!
