our Hawaiian holiday style continues onto the dining table...
using what we had on hand already, along with a few simple and inexpensive additions,
i was able to create a table that reflected the island style of our 'Happy HULAdays' Christmas decor theme!

as always, i try to keep the decor simple and easily removed, so we can play games or craft here.
'continue reading' to see the details...
an orange tie-dyed sarong is folded to serve as a table runner, and sits beneath the antique wood 'sugar mold'.
instead of using the expected evergreen branches, there are faux palm fronds and orchid leaves,
with some twine remnants tucked in like moss.
three ceramic orange candle lanterns sit on top of the wood piece, for height and light.
the bamboo & palm tree motif fits our tiki theme, as do the palm print cotton napkins...
along with another detail that you can't see in this photo.
you CAN see it here, though - look at the detail on the wine glasses.
there are palm fronds there, too!
these Tommy Bahama glasses were a gift to my Mom long ago.
(just goes to show that you usually CAN 'shop the house' and find more than you think you will!)

two large remote-control pillar candles in wood & glass vases finish off the centerpiece.
we relocated our tree this year, to sit in the dining room corner behind the table,
and it's so perfectly situated to view while sitting at the table, eating or playing games.
i used cookie cutters that we had on hand to create some new things:
gingerbread men & women for the hula dancers,
the top end of a boot and a 'package with a bow' for the tiki faces,
a snowflake for the hibiscus flowers, a simple round for the kakamora,
and a palm tree, a house, and a small Mickey Mouse.
... then i put them all together on a platter to create a cookie charcuterie board!
that's a wrap on our Happy HULAdays 2019 Christmas decor...
i'm ready to pack it all up and get a fresh start on the new year
with a new 'look' in our rooms for winter 2020.
( and no, i have NO IDEA what that will be! stay tuned?!!!! )
oh, and if you're wondering about our Christmas dinner,
Mom created a Hawaiian-inspired menu, with sweet & sour pork tenderloin,
vegetables, and au gratin potatoes... and pineapple upside down cake for dessert!
and then there were the cookies:

this has been a really FUN way for us to celebrate the holidays.
