half the fun of giving gifts at Christmas is wrapping them!
i've come up with some easy ways to make gift tags, bows, and even wrapping paper
that coordinate with my colorful 'merry and bright!' theme this year...
* make your own gift wrap paper
last spring, i shared my diy 'painted paint chip paper' tutorial.
the great thing about this is that you can select your own palette to match your theme.
turns out it makes terrific gift wrap for small packages -
if you cut it into strips, it can serve as 'ribbon' and be made into big ol' bows.
* make bows from paint chips
a bit of hot glue holds paint strips together in varied forms of package bows
in any color of the rainbow.
that bow on the left was made from the 'divider' strips in paint fans!
* use paint chips as gift tags
use the entire strip, as shown above, or make smaller tags as shown below.
i cut those strips up, then used small pieces of posterboard
to create more of the white 'ends' with holes in them...
glued together they all become small tags, ready to use on gifts.
a fun idea:
assign every person in your family a specific color and use only that color on their gifts!
* use scraps to make bows
after painting another project, i really liked the way the washi tape used to make crisp lines
had varied paint colors on the edges... so i saved it.
when i began making bows for gifts, i thought of that tape,
and quickly formed it into a funky bow for a small box!
* use fun items as 'tie ons' along with a bow
here, a vintage bubble light in bright hues picks up on the 'bubbly' circles in Dollar Tree gift wrap.
other packages make use of ornaments.
what else can you use? try small toys, candy, keychains & backpack charms, game pieces.
the boxes that i used here started out white,
but it's easy to use freezer paper or plain white gift wrap to get the same look.
the striped boxes are simply covered in tissue paper.
you don't need paint chips for some of these ideas...
old Christmas cards, boxes, and even books can be cut up and used!
