are built on top of this rainbow-hued runner.
made from paint chips and freezer paper and a glue stick. SO easy!
and right about now in the holiday season....easy is good.
continue reading for the super-simple 'how-to'...
i used white freezer paper as the base - you can't see it,
but it is what holds all of the paint chips together.
after i rolled out a strip of it (right outta' the box) in the length i needed,
i grabbed color chips and figured out how many were needed...
and how they would transition in ROYGBIVP order from one hue to the next.
and below them is a row of paint strips in black & white
(all of the paint names are printed on them and they are the back of paint fans)
i used the same kind of strips on my paint chip wreath, and like the combination -
plus it's a great way to create a 'neutral' background for the color chips
to keep the look crisp and clean.
i laid the whole arrangement out in order first, to make sure it would cover the paper.
because i had laid out all of the strips first, i knew how far apart these needed to be placed.
i aligned the top edge of them 1/8" over the edge of the freezer paper.
next, the color chips were glued into place -
they overlap onto the white strips by about 1/8 inch on each side,
completely covering all of the previously visible freezer paper backing.
this makes the whole runner stronger and easier to move.
when the glue was totally dry, i flipped the runner upside down
and folded the edge of the freezer paper on the bottom of the runner backward,
so that it was only under the color chips... then i cut that excess off.
now both edges on the front are clean,
and the white paint strips create a sort of 'scalloped' edge.
in a tablescape with all of the colorful, rainbow-hued decor
on the tree and mantel and gifts behind it,
this runner helps make Christmas even more merry and bright!
