be a good (repurposed) egg

last spring, i created several decor elements inspired by paint chips.
okay, okay... i basically spent most of 2020 finding creative ways to use paint chips! LOL

this year, i've pulled those out of storage and found fresh new ways to use them...
because the yellow just serendipitously fits my current color obsession perfectly
AND
because it's not necessary to have/buy/make ALL NEW things EVERY year.
(i felt a great disturbance in the force as retailers across the globe shuddered at that...)

it's fun finding new ways to use what you have!
continue reading to see the new ideas that i came up with...
the egg shapes made from my 'painted paint chip paper'
and ceramic eggs painted like paint chips - that i made LAST spring - looked like this:

simple? yes - both the elements and the arrangements.
that means they are easily re-used in new displays!

so, what did i do with them this year?
loaded them onto my faux mantel!

the largest paper eggs simply sit on the mantel, forming a backdrop of happy color.
the smaller paper eggs were just taped to a length of gingham ribbon,
forming a simple garland that stretches across the mantel 'apron'.

the painted ceramic eggs tumble in a clear glass cylinder vase, adding a vertical element.
and two paper party containers hold mini faux daffodils to add texture and more color.

then i switched it up!

the vases and boxes of flowers were removed, replaced with a quick project:
that egg in a 'frame' is simply a piece of white paper with a paper egg taped onto it,
sitting an old Christmas card box with an acrylic lid!
the box acts like a shadowbox frame -
and it's easy to hand-letter or use a decal to add the word 'spring' in a pretty font.

three small paper eggs and two new paper eggs
(cut out of a yellow & white striped notepad i have)
were taped to a wreath made last fall -
it's a pool noodle wreath covered with paint chips from an old fan deck,
so that the plain white back of the cards is what shows.

a fat yellow satin ribbon (actually, it's blanket binding!) bow finishes it off.

not only are the eggs from last spring being re-used,
but the box frame and the paint chip wreath are, as well.
...and it will all come apart and tuck back into bins, to be used in a new way next year!

  1. Cute, cute and cuter ideas. I am always fond of yellow in the Spring. It is such a happy color after the long, cold, dreary days of winter. Fun post. xo Diana
