NEW! Sweet Sweater Spookies!

this is quite possibly the EASIEST project i've ever undertaken...
and it was an idea that popped into my head as i was washing dishes!

i re-use plastic storage bags, washing them after use (unless they are greasy)
then placing them upside-down over a glass to dry.
as i did that one morning, i absentmindedly thought 'hah ha! he looks like a ghost!'
and then i stopped, looked again, and this crazy idea hatched in my brain.

so bear with me, and come along for the craziness!

i began with various glass pieces and started 'assembling' them in various heights:

these glass 'towers' form the structure of the ghosties.
i've labelled the image so you can determine what i used,
and replicate that using your own items.
(don't have clear glass? it's cheap at Dollar Tree - and white works, too!)
the best results come from having a domed item with a rounded shape on top -
i used upside-down stemless wine glasses and actual domed glass light globes.

next, i grabbed a piece of clothing in my 'donate' bag and some scissors.
that fabric was a white  open-weave sweater-ish top,
so i cut it two ways: one of the arms came off,
and i cut the front part of the body into two squares.

here's how i turned each of those into ghosts / 'spookies':

the arm was long, so i cut it into two pieces - one a bit shorter than the other.
and just as i do when making my Original Sweet Sweater Pumpkins,
i flipped the arms inside out, gathered up one end with a small rubber band to close it,
then flipped them right-side-out.
they popped right over the domed glass tops and the lightweight fabric hung beautifully!

a few small ovals cut from black paper (you could use felt, too) create eyes -
i used a dot of hot glue to hold those on.

the squares of fabric simply drape over the glass structures - i love how the fabric falls!
i chose not to add eyes to these, but you certainly could.

want a fun Halloween table?
top tall drinking glasses with plastic stemless wineglasses - turned upside down
(just slip it over the edge of the glass)
and drop a white fabric napkin over the top.
it will look just like the ones in the photo above!
this could work as a centerpiece OR at each place setting.

and when Halloween is over, simply dis-assemble these and put the elements away.
there's nothing to store until next year except the fabric!
unless, of course, like ME, you find another way to use it.... stay tuned!
