decorate pumpkins with stickers!

Halloween is comin' up quick... 

and if you're still looking for easy ways to decorate, i've got 'em!

this pumpkin decorating method ticks all the boxes:

fast✔     cheap✔     easy✔    no-carve✔     no clean-up✔   kids can do it ✔

and the results are loads of fun, too!

any guesses on what my 'trick' is?

yep! stickers!

 letter stickers are available in many fonts, script, block, and more.

the rest are just 'dot' stickers!

they both come in every color and size imaginable... and they aren't expensive.

i get mine at Dollar Tree, Ross, TJ Maxx, Michael's, and Joanns.

 

using those simple supplies, i quickly created the fun pumpkins you see in these photos!

my pumpkins all started out white, but any color pumpkins will work!

as a matter of fact, any color of letters and dots will work, too!

here's how i created each look:

· the curved 'mouth' and 'eye' shapes are created by cutting crescent shaped

out of large and medium circles.

· the oval 'eye' and 'mouth' shapes are two circles that overlap.

· the round 'eye's are just black circle stickers - 

white highlights in them are tiny white circle stickers.

· the 'googly eye' effect is made using four circles:

large black circle, then a medium white circle, then a small black circle, and a tiny white circle.

· the line between Baymax's round 'eyes' is cut from a capital E letter.

· the words are created using three different sizes & fonts of lettering...

and the O's in 'BOO' have two small black circles added to make them 'eyes'!

yes, it's a kid-friendly way to decorate pumpkins...

tho applying the lettering for the words can be hard.

to make it easier, let the kids do the faces and let an adult handle the words ;) 

a couple of tips for applying lettering to bumpy pumpkin surfaces:

· wrap a string or thread around your pumpkin, taping it into place

to create a level line to keep your words straight. 

remove when you're done with the words.

· figure out the center letter / letters of your word, and start with those,

working from center to the left and center to the right, to keep the spacing even.

pre-peel the letters you need from the backing sheet so they are easy to grab.

· use your blow drier to slightly heat the pumpkin surface where the letters will be placed

 (10 seconds should do it) then quickly apply the stickers, starting in the center.

press each letter onto the pumpkin from the center of the sticker,

pressing outward to make it stick completely to the pumpkin.

· if needed, you can give each sticker a quick shot of hot air from the blow drier

to heat the plastic and make it more pliable.

just don't hold the heat on it too close or too long, or it will melt.

ps: the small jack o'lantern is the front of the pumpkin that says 'BOO'!
