cozy yarn winter flowers

it's still winter, and i'm staying warm in my studio
while working on some new spring decor projects for future posts...
but in the meantime,
i'd love to share one last winter project to finish off February!

i'm calling these 'yarn flowers', made by combining winter elements
with a few stems of faux flowers to create this fun bouquet.
(and yes, my new favorite loopy white yarn IS in there!)
it's an easy, creative way to add some whimsy to these cold days...

the daisies at the top of the bouquet are made from one large pom pom and loopy yarn.
one of the three has a center made from a spiral of nubby yarn on cardboard,
and they are simply hot glued together then mounted on a long wood skewer.

i also used the loopy yarn on the flowers in the center of the bouquet,
by wrapping it twice around the base of the faux 'snowball' flowers.
a wood skewer fit perfectly into the faux flower bases.

illuminated by the candle flame, one of the simple 'chrysanthemum' flowers is visible -
there are two of them in the bouquet, and they are just fluffy yarn pom poms.

the 'snowflake' flower petals are thick felt tree ornaments,
which i wrapped around a small ball of nubby yarn 'center' of the flowers.
the arms of the snowflake were pinned into the yarn ball with straight pins
(i use these snowflakes a LOT and i don't want them glued on here permanently)

this 'rose' blossom is simply a ball of white yarn,
displayed on its side with a pair of chenille stem leaves.
there's another larger 'rose' blossom on the top left of the bouquet.

all gathered together in a tall white ceramic container,
lit by candles in pierced ceramic vases,
the flowers coordinate with the loopy yarn wreath on my faux mantel
in a soft, cozy vibe that's perfect for these last days of the last month of winter.

in my next post, i have a perfect winter/spring transition project for you...
stay warm, my friends! spring is comin'!
